About Us
The Bard Theatre Company was co-founded and is run by Artistic Director Stephen McCabe and Company Manager Aoife Ryan.
Stephen McCabe
Stephen wears many hats as well as co-founder of the company he is also an Actor, Director and an award-winning theatre devisor. He began his career as the lead community theatre practitioner for South Liverpool during its European Capital of Culture year 2008, running workshops and directing youth theatre across the city. From here he Co-founded the Rubbish Shakespeare Theatre Company that is one of England’s leading theatre in education companies.
After attending Andrew Lloyd Webbers Arts Educational school Stephen began a career on the stage and performed as Romeo in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in the Westend and across Europe. Recently he can be seen on BBC’s Almost Never.
He was Co-Artistic Director of award-winning theatre company Certain Dark Things, directing the international touring show ‘Melancholy’.
Stephen has taught at Drama Centre London as well as numerous schools, universities, and Theatres across the UK.


Aoife Ryan
Aoife's passion lies in dance and musical theatre and she has performed on stages across Ireland. As a swing dancer she has performed 6- and 8-count Lindy and Charleston across Europe. Aoife has also taught classes in Dublin and Kilkenny to a variety of age groups.
Having been the marketing and event coordinator for UCD school of law she has experience in planning and executing workshops and events for school and universities.
